San Francisco International Airport is located about 21 km away from downtown and it’s the second largest airport in California after Los Angeles International Airport, and to reach SF downtown you have several options.

1. Taxi. First of all you’ve always taxies, it’s the same everywhere in the world, it isn’t cheaper and sometimes it isn’t the faster route comparing other methods.

2. The second method, which I recommend you for convenience is the subway, called BART. At the airport the SFO BART is located at the international terminal floor Departures & Ticketing at Level 3, in the departure area G (Boarding Area G) of the terminal next to the Berman Reflection Room. You can buy the tickets for 8$ at the automatic machine near the entrance of the subway. However, if you can’t find the subway station or you don’t know how to use the automatic machine (it’s not so intuitive!) don’t worry because there is always someone there to help you.

3. You can use one of the many Airport Shuttles that run from the airport to the hotels only for 15 bucks.

4.With buses, the most convenient service but not the fastest because the streets are always jammed with traffic. In this case there are several lines that reach downtown San Francisco from SFO International Airport, of course, based on where you get off you have to check which autobus is right for you. The bus ticket price is very cheap, and you can buy it on board indeed remember to have the right money amount because the driver doesn’t have any change.

Now you know that you have several possibilities to reach downtown San Francisco from SFO International Airport. One more thing to remember: in San Francisco there is always cold weather, even in summer because there’s a lot of wind everywhere!
